Over the past 15 years, there have been numerous instances wherein mathematical methodologies have been applied to study quantum information theory (QIT). In this lecture, we will focus on two important applications of random matrix theory and free probability to QIT. Indeed, they provide a systematical approach to produce PPT-entangled quantum states and the negative answer to additivity problem of the Holevo information.
